Millennium Point

The new car park to the Millennium Point in Birmingham by the city council is predominantly clad in pressed aluminium panels, with insulated panel, expanded aluminium, Perspex ‘light-boxes’  and aluminium  rainscreen. Car park specialist Berry Systems Ltd approached Design Engine to help design and co-ordinate the supporting bracketry and interfaces between the different materials and suppliers. The build sequence demanded that the bespoke aluminium panels, measuring 3.3×3.3m, were sited and fixed during the erection of the steel frame. The steel frame had been designed in association with Design Engine to have holes pre-drilled to accept the panel fixings.
