Design Engine Structures were employed as the structural engineer to design the principal frame of this office and student accommodation project.
The structure is over four floors and includes a hot rolled steel podium for open plan areas, including car parking, and four floors of student accommodation above, formed in our client’s proprietary light gauge steel panelised system with composite concrete floors. We developed the system with the client back in 2018, developing a suite of manuals and achieving NHBC accreditation.
We developed a design and analysis model for the hot rolled steel elements and designed all of the light gauge steel using our proprietary in house design tools.
Our outputs include full GA plans to communicate specification of structural components, details of bespoke connections, detailed structural calculations and checking of the customer’s fabrication model in shared BIM viewer.
